around

this time around was made on stolen land that belongs to Wurundjeri and Boon Wurrung peoples of the Eastern Kulin Nation, with respect and gratitude paid to past and present Elders.

A quartet of repeated local walks: loops from my home, around the block and back again. Recorded at sunrise, midday, sunset and midnight in mid-November 2020, at a time when local Covid lockdown restrictions were easing. With one lapel microphone clipped to the inside of my face mask, another attached to the outside of my clothing, I listen to my neighbourhood rhythms, and the fluctuations of my breath, my footfall. This repeated movement is an exercise in familiarity, comfort, and facing apprehension.

This is a non-linear interactive listening experience, and you're invited to listen, loop and layer the audio recordings at your leisure.
